What is APlace2Grow
Rooted in nature-based play and learning.
APlace2Grow is a Certified Family Home (Provider #CF504932) in Portland, Oregon, built around one idea: children learn best through hands-on discovery outdoors. Here, kids are free to dig, climb, build, and hide — playing with rocks, dirt, trees, bugs, flowers, mud, and water through elemental nature.
We believe quality early education means regular, real connection with the outdoors — and that every child grows best on their own timeline. Lesson plans are shaped around each child’s own needs, pace, and interests, with plenty of encouragement, positive feedback, and room for imagination and self-expression to flourish.
Nature-Based Play
Real dirt, real trees, real weather. Our almost-four-acre farm is the classroom, and nature is the teacher.
Individualized Growth
Every child is unique — lessons and routines are shaped around each child’s own abilities and interests.
A Home, Not a Facility
Capped at 10 children, ages 3 months to 12 years, home-based care means every child is known — and every family is treated like family.
“The seeds are the most important part of the tree’s growth.”
A family mantra, passed down through generations
Children thrive the same way seeds do — given a positive atmosphere and a loving environment early in life. On our small farm, nearly four acres of it, nature is the classroom and the outdoors is the teacher, grounding every day in three simple principles: care for oneself and others, care for the earth, and sharing fairly.
As advocates for nature-friendly, sustainable practices, we want every child to experience the world through their hands, hearts, and minds — building school-readiness naturally, through fun, muddy, wonder-filled play.
Meet Your Provider
Ritu Kumari Sah
I’m the owner and provider behind APlace2Grow, established in 2024, with years of hands-on experience caring for young children in a preschool setting.
I know that leaving your child in someone else’s care is a big decision, and I don’t take that trust lightly. My goal is simple: for your child to feel just as at home in my home as they do in their own, while I get to know everything that makes them who they are.
Outside of daycare hours, you’ll usually find me out on the farm — tending the garden, listening for robins and hummingbirds, and watching deer wander through. I share my home with my husband, our two sons, and Luna, our gentle Labrador, and I hope to add a few farm animals of my own one day.
